With the start of the New Year, my mind has been focused on health and wellness lately. I’m guessing that may be the case for many of you as well. In fact, I just got back from Target and they had their complete bathing suit department out on display. Yes, bathing suits on frigid January 9th!

My husband and I trained together at One Body ITT and it really helped to have a partner by my side through the process. My husband began his training with Celio about 5 years ago. At about 6 months in, he was experiencing such great results that I just had to join him.

To be honest, I was terrified of working with a personal trainer. Visions of military exercises and an angry Jillian Michaels filled my head. I had only known of the mean, pushy, in-your-face trainers I had seen on TV. I wanted no part of it.

Not to mention the type of training my husband was doing. I would have never imagined myself doing the things he was telling me about. Dead lifts and man makers and kettle bell swings… oh my! I was always more of the jog around the block, dance in the mirror, sit-ups in front of the TV type of girl.

After my husband insisted that Celio was a super nice guy and wouldn’t yell at me, I decided to give it a shot. Plus, it meant more time with my (at the time) boyfriend.

When I met Celio (pictured above), I was pleasantly surprised. He was kind, extremely positive and encouraging. He was conscious of my fears and was able to gently push me through them without making me want to run away. Plus, when he’s asking you to do it again telling you, “Faster, stronger, harder,” it doesn’t sound as scary in his Brazilian accent.

Celio’s passion and excitement for health and wellness is completely contagious! His attitude and training style reminds me a lot of Chris Powell from Extreme Makeover Weight Loss Edition (who I love!).

Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t easy. For someone who only occasionally did cardio, it was really tough. The first day I trained, I think I almost threw up 3 different times. My husband wasn’t so lucky; he threw up several times on his first day (sorry babe). But, this feeling was only temporary as Celio conditioned our bodies and made us stronger and stronger. We both wanted more.

After training for about a year, my (at the time) fiancé proposed and we kicked our program into high gear to get into the best shape of our lives for our wedding. We had about 10 months to physically prepare for our wedding and honeymoon.

In addition to the training, Celio really taught us how to transform our lifestyle and eating habits. With the added motivation of the wedding, our bodies took shape. I had never felt so energized. My body craved the training and if I ate unhealthy processed foods (even a teeny bit), they made me sick.

One thing Celio preaches to his clients is that the goal isn’t to get skinny or be thin. The goal is to get strong and healthy. Looking good is just a by-product of finding health. That was just the case for us. As soon as we shifted our objective from looking skinny to being healthy, our bodies naturally followed along.

By the time our wedding and honeymoon came along, I can honestly say that I was in the best shape and health of my life. For the very first time I had visible muscles and was successfully executing exercises that I could have never imagined myself doing. But, little did I know that the true test of my training was yet to come.

I ended up getting pregnant during our honeymoon. I continued my training (sometimes modified to accommodate my growing belly) with Celio until I was about 4 months pregnant. At that time, I developed a painful rib condition called Costochondritis (tall baby + short waist = bruised and inflamed ribs) that became so excruciating, I couldn’t do anything. Wearing an elastic bra felt as if someone was taking a knife to my skin. Even sitting and lying down was extremely painful. Needless to say, that was the end of my training for the time being.

Everything I’ve heard and read about getting your body back after baby stresses the importance of getting healthy and in-shape BEFORE you get pregnant. I can completely vouch for this theory! I know that the only reason my body bounced back after baby is because of Celio’s conditioning and training.

I’m feeling brave tonight and have decided to share a very embarrassing photo with you… the first photo was taken the evening my water broke and the second photo was taken 9 months after my son was born. (I can’t believe I’m posting this, but a picture is worth 1000 words, right? If this isn’t proof of Celio’s training, I don’t know what is! I apologize for the bad quality photos, but I never thought I’d ever be sharing these)

Every morning, I watched my stomach flatten little by little right before my eyes. It was pretty incredible. Especially for someone who was basically bed-ridden recovering from an emergency c-section. This would not have been my experience if I hadn’t prepared my body before the pregnancy with One Body ITT. It’s truly amazing how far a healthy and active lifestyle will take you.

To make a long story short, I highly recommend Celio “Ty” Silva and One Body Integrated Training & Therapy. I know you ladies (along with your men) will enjoy his training style, identify with his strong family values and will completely fall in love with his entire sweet family (his wife and 2 young daughters are ridiculously gorgeous inside and out). We are talking about good people here! He has changed our lives and we are forever grateful.
