Home Tour: Jake’s Pirate Toddler Room

I love seeing how other people decorate their houses. I get so inspired by the creativity of others. So, in the spirit of sharing, I’ve decided to give you a peek into our home.

Let’s start the home tour with Jake’s brightly colored pirate toddler room. Jake is 2 1/2. We moved him out of his “Surfer” themed nursery and into his big-boy “Pirate” room when I became pregnant with my baby girl.

We decided on the pirate theme mainly because of the awesome Little Tikes toddler pirate ship bed we found. We were looking for something that was similar to the surfer theme we did for his nursery so that we could still use some of the décor.

Little did I know that a few short months after putting his new room together, he would develop a MAJOR obsession with trains. Bummer! As my son says, “Ooohhh, man!”

  • Little Tikes Pirate Ship Bed ordered online at Walmart and picked up at Walmart in Folsom (site to store pickup = no shipping costs).
  • Striped bedding, toddler duvet and shark stuffed animal from Ikea in West Sacramento.
  • Little Giraffe blue blanket from Starlight Starbright in Folsom (This is Jake’s lovey. He always has it with him, especially when he’s tired)
  • Step 2 Train Table from Amazon (Jake’s all-time favorite toy and most used item in his room. Notice he’s guarding it as I take photos?)
  • Step 2 Chalkboard and whiteboard combo activity station from Babies R Us in Folsom.

  • Wooden “Jake” sign handmade by a sweet friend.
  • Fabric banner DIY and created from Jake’s crib bedding. A small memento from his nursery.
  • Oversized surf poster from All Posters.
  • Pirate piggy bank from Home Goods in Folsom.

  • Black dresser has actually become a family heirloom. It was my dad’s when he was a child. Mine when I was a kid. And, now Jake’s!
  • Black floating shelves from Target in Folsom.
  •  Step 2 toy chest is a hand-me-down from Jake’s cousin.

  • Custom nautical prints from Smittenly in Folsom.
  • Plush pirate ship rocker from Rockabye.
  • B. Zany Zoo Wooden Activity Cube from Target in Folsom.
